Eligibility

HOF SELECTION CRITERIA:

Elements of Eligibility for nomination/induction into the Hall of Fame (HOF) are as follows:

1. Retired from active duty and be a graduate of Fayetteville State University, or partnership / affiliate school AND

2. Received a commission from an FSU ROTC Program or its partnership program(s) offered at UNC at Pembroke, Methodist University, and Campbell University, OR

3. A graduate of FSU who received a commission through any other source (Navy, Officer Cadet School, Direct Commission, etc.), AND

4. Attained the rank of Major or higher while serving in any uniformed services of the United States on active duty, or in the Reserves, or in the National Guard, OR

5. Served in a position that commanded/directed resources that supported state, national security, or international governance of national security.

6. Directed programs/organizations that impacted the well-being of municipal, state, or national communities.

7. Developed organizations, inventions, systems, educational programs, cultural programs, economic, and social entities that have enhanced the nation and/or humanity.

8. Elected or appointed to an office of prominence in the public or private sector, OR

9. Obtained a position of prominence in the private sector, OR

10. Recognized on a national or international level for outstanding achievement or service, OR

11. Awarded the Medal of Honor, regardless of rank.

12. Verified Killed in Action (KIA) while deployed to an approved hostile/hazardous duty area, regardless of rank.

13. Served in an approved hostile/hazardous duty area regardless of rank.

14. Contributed in a significant manner to the success of the FSU Cadet program.

 

SOURCE OF NOMINATION(S):  
1. Original FSU Military Association Steering Committee and on-going HOF membership

2. Members may not necessarily be inductees but rather members of the FSU Military Association

3. University and ROTC faculty

4. University Alumni

 

HOF NOMINATION PACKAGE CRITERIA:  

1. Nominations shall be submitted in an electronic PDF format, in-order-to facilitate transmission to committee members for review and archiving. See example (Biography – ANNEX A).

2. The following items are required:

a. Submit Nomination package in PDF format (HOF Biography – ANNEX A);

b. HOF package format available by contacting the FSU Military Association Chair by email; or downloading from the FSU Military Association website.

3. Nomination packages (see website) must include a one-page biography addressing:

a. Identify nominees significant contributions warranting selection.

b. The year of graduation.

c. Academic major(s).

d. Contributions, awards, and assignments, or professional locations.

4. Submit a color photo (in uniform) of the applicant in JPG format applicable for publication. (ex: Photo – ANNEX B).

 

SELECTION COMMITTEE:  

1. The FSU Military HOF Selection Committee will meet during the month of May each year to select personnel for induction into the HOF; induction ceremony to be scheduled during the fall semester.

2. The Selection Committee shall consist of four (4), but no more than five (5) committee members:

a. Steering Committee Chair (FSU Military Association Secretary).

b. Three (3) or more FSU Military Association members.

 

SELECTION PROCESS:  

1. Nominations will be submitted using the PDF format HOF nomination package.

2. Nominations must be received by the FSU Military HOF Committee prior to the May 10th deadline of the calendar year to be considered for induction during the upcoming fall school year.

3. The Selection Committee will meet in May each year to select nominees for induction into the FSU Military Hall of Fame.

4. Committee members will ensure that nominees meet the eligibility elements in accordance with the Elements of Eligibility for nomination/induction into the FSU Military HOF.

5. The committee may reject any nominee(s) the committee considers not meeting the selection criteria.

6. Each nomination package must receive unanimous approval by the committee in-order-to be inducted into the FSU Military HOF.

7. Personnel selected for induction will be notified no later than (end of May) Memorial Day weekend.

8. FSU Military HOF will provide the exact date, time, and location for induction into the hall of fame.
